Stratford athlete Pozzi fired up for Berlin challenge

Stratford Editorial 9th Aug, 2018   0

ANDREW POZZI is aiming to erase his summer disappointments by challenging for glory in the 110 metres hurdles European Championships in Berlin.

The Stratford athlete achieved one goal at the start of the year when he raced to gold in the World Indoors in Birmingham.

But the 26-year-old was then a frustrating sixth at the Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast after clattering the first barrier and hit by food poisoning in the United States.

After failing to finish at the World Cup, plus having to settle for fourth at the Anniversary Games in London last month, he is a man on a mission.

The heats in Berlin took place yesterday, with the semi-finals and final tonight (Friday).

“This outdoor season has been a tough one for me but athletics is a championship sport and I’ll be looking to get it right at the most important competition of the year,” said Pozzi.

“I’m really happy with my last two weeks of training and preparations. Berlin promises to host an incredible championships and with my event being stacked with talent it guarantees to be exciting.”
