THE BEARS roadshow returns for another year with many of the club’s first team players to attend a community fun day before facing a Warwickshire League team at Stratford-upon-Avon Cricket Club.

A Bears squad will take on a Warwickshire Cricket League XI on Wednesday, July 31 at Stratford-upon-Avon CC in a T20 match with Stratford’s top order batter Osian Catlin selected in the Warwickshire League team.

The match begins at 5.30pm with the players to arrive at Stratford’s Swans Nest home from 2pm.

Warwickshire’s participation and growth manager, Andy Wyles, said: “This is a new venue this year that the Bears Roadshow is visiting and an exciting time to bring some quality cricket to the south of the county. We’ve got a great relationship with Stratford-Upon-Avon CC and run a lot of our summer holiday camps in that location.

“For 11 players from these local leagues to take on some of the biggest names in domestic cricket is an opportunity that doesn’t come around very often.

“The games have already proved to bridge the gap between the club and the recreational game. These fixtures are now a yearly event in the calendar and have proven to been successful in engaging local communities closer to the players and the game.

“The joy on the faces of boys and girls who came along last year shows the value of the club venturing out of our Edgbaston home.”

An under-11 girls and under-9 boys softball festival will take place alongside a super-1s training session with lead coach Rob Eynon at the Stratford Access Hub.

Stratford’s junior section will receive top-tier coaching from members of the Warwickshire team.

The day’s main focus will once again be on showcasing talent from the region’s local leagues and providing young fans with the opportunity to meet their cricketing heroes.

The Birmingham League side will feature leading players from clubs including Attock, Solihull Blossomfield, Walmley, Moseley Ashfield and Bedworth.

On the day, admission to the game is £5 while children under the age of 16 go for free.
