Imogen serves notice of her talent as comeback continues

HUGELY talented Stratford Athletic Club ace Imogen Green reminded everyone of her ability when she competed at the England Athletics Senior Combined Events Indoor Championships.

Held at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield, the prestigious event pitted Imogen against the leading pentathletes in the country.

The first event – the 60m hurdles – was not the only barrier Imogen had to overcome when returning to the indoor multi-event circuit. She was also tackling physical and mental challenges as a result of major back surgery in 2014.

This was Imogen’s first combined event of any sort since January 2014 so, on returning to Sheffield, Imogen’s aim was to complete all five events.

She achieved this with a solid performance in the 60m hurdles, high jump, shot put, long jump and 800m to finish a very creditable 16th place overall, scoring 3,187 points against the leading heptathletes in the country.

The winner was Jess Taylor of Sale Harriers who led from the start.

A long, gruelling but enjoyable day leaves Imogen in good spirits and confidently looking forward to the outdoor season and her first full heptathlon in May in the National Championships.

Imogen will be stepping up her training once again to ensure she is in peak form for the challenge ahead as she continues her comeback.
