FOOTBALL - Bards end winless run before Hitchin defeat

Stratford Editorial 27th Oct, 2022   0

STRATFORD Town snapped their six-game winless run with an emphatic 4-2 win against Needham Market before the Bards were edged out at home by Hitchin Town in midweek.

Jack Storer and Andre Wright both scored twice as Gavin Hurren’s side secured a much-needed three points against Needham at the Arden Garages Stadium last weekend.

That was despite Needham twice reducing the deficit through a Ross Crane strike and Paul McCone own goal.

However, the Bards surrendered a second-half lead against Hitchin as Daniel Lafferty’s opener was cancelled out by Ashley Hay before Diogo Freitas-Gouveia grabbed the winner nine minutes from time.

The results leave Stratford in 16th place in the Southern League Premier Central table.

Stratford are next in action away at Barwell on Saturday, October 29 with kick-off at 3pm at Kirkby Road.
