THERE was a treat for members of Wellesbourne Junior Badminton Club when ex-England international Steve Butler and the current under 19 English badminton singles champion Sam Parsons paid a visit to their Kineton High School base.
The star duo put on some coaching sessions and presented the club with its recently awarded Premier certificate.
Butler, capped 75 times by England, and Parsons provided informative and fun demonstrations and explained how to take certain shots and travel around the court.
They invited many juniors to take part in the demonstrations and afterwards officially awarded the junior club with its Badminton England Premier certificate, making it one of only two such clubs in Warwickshire to hold the accolade.
Butler and Parsons then gave even more of their time by answering questions and providing autographs.
Wellesbourne Juniors have been growing from strength to strength over the last few years. The club offers structured coaching, games and competitions and several of the junior members now represent Warwickshire at county level, helping the club gain a fantastic reputation.
Wellesbourne Juniors ensure children are coached in line with the latest guidelines as set down by Badminton England and, with four qualified coaches, all CRB checked, the club expects to continue to thrive.
