STRATFORD Town Tornados under 12s are celebrating after clinching a league and cup double in their first season in the Ambassador Evesham Football League.
They are the first Stratford Town team to win the League Cup at this level and the first Pool A outfit to complete the double unbeaten.
Goals from Tommy Williams and Brandon Garvie secured a 2-1 victory at Alcester Town Juniors which sealed the title, whilst the cup was clinched when the same side were beaten 4-0 in the final.
In the cup final at Bretforton Sports Ground the Tornados took the lead against the run of play with an individual goal from their captain Adam Farrow.
The Tornados then dominated play for the rest of the first half as defenders Samuel Salter and man of the match Lucas Brannan restricted Alcester to only a single shot on goal.
Tom Price was a commanding figure in central midfield, setting up Olly Parriss for Stratford’s second goal just before half time after a goalmouth scramble.
Despite making five substitutions at half time, Tornados continued to dominate the match, with Brannan and Brandon Garvie looking lively on the wings.
Garvie set up the third goal, beating two Alcester players down the right before delivering a clever cross into the Alcester box for Sam Hill to slot home.
Tornados continued to push forward and five minutes later substitute Aaron Nijjar picked up the ball on the halfway line and beat two Alcester players before scoring from 25 yards to put the outcome beyond doubt.
Four Bidford-based Tornados players – Adam Farrow, George Clarke, Tom Nash and Salter – have now completed a hat-trick of consecutive AEFL Cup final victories following earlier wins for their previous club Bidford Bombers.
Tornados would like to thank joint sponsors Hill Fox Farm Produce and JS Robinson Builders and also parents and coaches for their continued support this season.
