STRATFORD Boat Club members enjoyed another successful day at Worcester Rowing Club’s Head of the River race on Saturday, with strong representation from the junior, KES and women’s squads.
However, it was the masters squad who came away with the pots as Tom Doherty and Gary Clay won in their doubles category.
Whilst Stratford Boat Club athletes have done well on the water, others have done well recently in the British Rowing Indoor Rowing Championships at Lee Valley VeloPark, with Esme Booth finishing fifth and Jessica Cann 24th out of a field of 46 in the junior girls year 11 category.
Not to be outdone by the junior squad, masters rower Trevor Tiller produced a 2km time of 7:34.5 – a personal best.
Trevor is also the club’s welfare officer and also one of the club’s licensed launch drivers and came to rowing through the club’s Learn to Row programme after his daughter took up rowing.
He said: “Whilst it is great to go along and support the juniors, it was very satisfying to compete and achieve success in one’s own right!”
