WARWICKSHIRE Baseball, the only baseball club in the county, are hoping to drum up interest ahead of their first training session next month.
The club are based in Stockton and hope to enter a team into the West Midlands Baseball league in 2023 as they try to introduce, develop and progress the sport within the county and surrounding areas.
And Warwickshire will hold their first training session on Wednesday, June 15 alongside their crowdfunding campaign to raise funds to install a baseball diamond and backstop at Stockton Football and Cricket Club.
Training sessions will run every Wednesday from 6pm to 8pm and Sunday’s from 10am to 12pm.
The club was founded in May 2022 by David Millward and Matt Johnson who decided to launch Warwickshire Baseball Club after discovering there was a lack of baseball in Warwickshire.
And the club’s long-term plan is to have multiple teams at different levels to allow progression for members as well as a youth setup under the name ‘Stockton Grizzlies’.
The current committee consists of: Matt Johnson (Co-Chairman), David Millward (Co-Chairman and Treasurer), Lucy Brearley (Secretary), Becki Paige (Administrative Manager) and Jessica Johnson (Marketing Manager).
