Yarnbomb installations go missing after community event

Stratford Editorial 2nd Jul, 2019   0

INSTALLATIONS created as part of a community art event in Stratford were stolen within days of going on display.

Health and wellbeing charity Escape Arts hosted the ‘yarnbomb’ at The Old Slaughterhouse off Sheep Street to brighten up the community centre and surrounding area with wool.

But three pieces knitted by volunteers from the local Stitch Group – intended to be donated to charity for Christmas gifts – went missing.

Two have since been located and the charity is still hoping to find the third.

Director Karen Williams said: “A lot of our volunteers are really disappointed the work went missing especially after such a fantastic day.

“A lot of work goes into this. We have been knitting for about three months and the piece still missing had really lovely knitted poppies made by my mum which took about an hour alone.”

Anyone who has seen the missing piece can email Karen on [email protected].
