A WIFE has paid tribute to her golf-loving husband following his death in a car crash in Stratford.
Bryan Stacey, from Wilmcote, was killed after his car hit a tree near on the Birmingham Road, near the Maybird Centre, on October 9.
And wife Sybil described the 86-year-old’s passion for sport and shared memories of their time together.
She said: “Bryan loved golf, cricket and football in that order. In our more mobile days we went to all the large golf tournaments in the country, met most of the golfing celebrities and have some treasured photographs.
“Bryan followed cricket and football closely on television and if England lost the test match or the golf tournament he threatened to lower all the blinds as a mark of respect. I prefer rugby and told him if he did so, I would lower them when the English rugby team lost too.
“The flag Bryan always raised to celebrate English sport is still flying on its flagpole at the bottom of our garden and will remain there until it wears out.”
Bryan’s funeral will take place at Oakley Wood crematorium in Bishop’s Tachbrook on Friday November 10, at 2pm.
Family flowers only and any donations to be forwarded to the Stratford Hospital Appeal.
