Warning to clear up rubbish in rural areas to avoid potential fires

Stratford Editorial 20th Jul, 2019   0

FIRE chiefs in Warwickshire are warning people living in or visiting rural areas to clear up their rubbish to avoid potential fires.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is reminding people that during hot spells the ground is more prone to catching alight.

Reflective items such as cans and glass can cause fires, along with cigarettes not properly extinguished.

People are being urged not to light campfires, be extra careful with bonfires, and not to dispose of barbecues while they are still hot.

Anyone who sees people lighting fires irresponsibly should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
