Tramway bridge lights up once more, a year after Council's decision to replace lighting

THE TRAMWAY Bridge is illuminated once again.

Over a year since The Observer last reported Stratford District Council’s decision to replace the lighting, the footbridge once again features colour changing strip-lights and small spot lights.

It was hoped the works would be completed in time to mark the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death in April but were delayed until the council could find a suitable contractor to take on the work.

The £138,000 scheme of programmable coloured lighting has been dogged with problems despite efforts to fix them – the new lighting has set the council back another £90,000.
