Stratford community centre to shut

Stratford Editorial 23rd Mar, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

THE KEN Kennett Community Centre in Stratford will close for good next month.

Clopton Community Forum, the volunteer group responsible for running the Justins Avenue centre for the past 16 years, has reluctantly decided to close owing to management costs and reduced income from bookings.

Stratford District Council, which owns the centre, is looking to work with county, district and town councillors, together with local voluntary and community organisations, community leaders and residents to attract investmentand secure a future for the centre which was the inspiration of former Mayor Ken Kennett.

The district and county and councils are currently working with Stratford Town Trust to ensure an event to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday on June 12 can still go ahead.

Anyone who could help can call Stratford District Council’s policy officer Carol Roberts on 01789 260112.
