Shakespeare Hospice walk aims to encourage fitness and raise awareness

A HEALTH walk is set to stroll into action at The Shakespeare Hospice.

A gentle 45 minute walk will take place from the hospice grounds in Shottery once a fortnight, for members of the public and the charity’s volunteers.

The new initiative – which has been launched by district councillor David Curtis along with the council and the charity – is aimed at helping people keep fit and raising awareness about the hospice.

Coun Curtis said: “Walking is a simple and fantastic way of getting some exercise, getting out in the open and having conversations with some new people. This is something anyone can enjoy and we welcome all to participate.

“The purpose is to give local people the chance to see where the hospice is, meet some of the staff and dispel some pre-conceptions about what the hospice is like.”

The next walk is on Friday September 6, starting at 10am.
