RESCUE teams are searching for a 17-year-old boy who went missing while swimming at a former quarry.

The alarm was raised at ‘The Blue Pool’ near the village of Bishop Itchington shortly after 6.30pm yesterday (Thursday). It is believed the teenager got into difficulties while swimming.

The boy’s parents were understood to be at the lake while firefighters and ambulance crews searched for him at the 90-acre former lime quarry.

Fire engines, including one towing a trailer canoes, and an ambulance towing a motor boat, were seen heading to the lake.

The B4451 Station Road leading into the village near Southam was closed during the search.

Warwickshire Police is expected to give an update on the search this morning.
