PUBLIC rights of way in Warwickshire are being lined up for improvements to keep them ‘useful for generations to come’.
Warwickshire County Council (WCC) is seeking views on all aspects of the county’s 1,700 miles of footpaths, bridleways, byways and unclassified roads, as part of a new consultation exercise to inform an improvement plan for these routes.
Public rights of way in Warwickshire are found in both rural and urban locations, generally away from major roads. The public have a legal right to use them, even if on private land.
The council wants to hear about the experiences of people who use Warwickshire’s public rights of way, and what prevents others from using them.
WCC’s transport spokesman Coun Jan Matecki said: “Our extensive network of public rights of way are vital active travel highways which support a wide range of activities, from exploring the county’s natural wonders to allowing our residents to get to and from workplaces and schools.
“We hope as many residents as possible will take the opportunity to tell us what they think about the county’s public rights of way in order to allow us to prioritise the improvements that will keep them relevant and useful for generations to come.”
