Overcrowded dog kennels leads to fine for owner

Stratford Editorial 4th Apr, 2019   0

A KENNEL owner has been fined after a council inspector found nearly twice as many dogs at the premises as the licence allowed.

A total of 54 dogs were found at Meadow Kennels based at Atherstone Airfield in Preston-on-Stour, contrary to the licence conditions which stated the number of animals accommodated at any one time should not exceed 30 dogs.

A Stratford District Council licensing officer visited the kennels last August following a complaint from a member of the public.

The officer found a number of dogs sharing kennels without the owner’s consent and dogs being kept within passage ways of kennel blocks. Paperwork and information for dogs housed could also not be found.

Kay Talbot, who has been licensed since 2015, pleaded guilty to a breach of her licence at Nuneaton Magistrates Court.

and was fined £40 together with a £30 victim surcharge.
