A NEW ward block at Warwick Hospital has been officially opened.

Warwick and Leamington MP Chris White was joined by orthopaedic consultant Steve Young and orthopaedic clinical director Ike Nwachukwu to cut the ribbon on the new block, which houses Greville and Thomas wards and the private Beauchamp Suite.

The block includes 57 beds split over three floors and the additional wards are designed to help the trust meet the healthcare needs of an increasing and ageing population in south Warwickshire.

It is also home to the new hub for South Warwickshire Foundation Trust’s orthopaedic services.

Chief executive Glen Burley said: “I am really pleased the new wards are officially open and it is great to see staff and patients in the facilities.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that has been involved in the development. Having a dedicated area for our orthopaedic patients supports efficiency, helping our clinical teams to deliver safe, effective, compassionate care.”
