New project in Stratford offers life-changing funding

Stratford Editorial 13th Oct, 2017 Updated: 16th Oct, 2017   0

LIFE-CHANGING funding is still up for grabs through a major new project in Stratford.

ReBuild has been launched by Stratford Town Trust. The DIY SOS-style project aims to have a direct and lasting impact on a family or community in the town.

It could be a house needing major alterations to allow an ill or disabled family member stay at home, or a community facility needing significant funding for a transformation.

And with only a couple of weeks until nominations close, the community is being urged to put forward potential winning projects.

Anyone can nominate a worthy project – but the ReBuild has to happen within the boundary of Stratford town.

Nominations can be submitted – via a simple online form at www.research.net/r/STT_ReBuild – up until midnight on October 24. Alternatively, call the trust on 01789 207111 for a paper copy.

Trust chief executive Justin Williams said: “This is a really different project for the town trust and for Stratford, and there’s been a lot of interest in ReBuild since it launched at the start of September.

“But we know there are a lot more people out there who could benefit from this funding – this is a life-changing opportunity.

“Please do come forward and nominate – whether it’s for yourselves, your family or friends, or a community facility that you know needs a big boost. We’re asking everyone to help us spread the word far and wide too to make sure we reach as many people as possible.

“Remember, one of the nominations you put forward is going to win.”

Once nominations close, a shortlist of projects will be announced – with the community then asked to vote for the winner during November and into December.

The winner will be notified just before Christmas, ready for the ReBuild in 2018.

Much like DIY SOS – the hit BBC1 programme – Stratford Town Trust also needs to hear from any companies and volunteers willing to lend a hand – or a team of hands – to support the project once the winner is announced.

Visit www.research.net/r/STT_ReBuild and leave details.

Mr Williams added: “A huge thank you to all of those who have already volunteered help, we’ve already received some really wonderful offers of support.

“For ReBuild to work, we really need the whole community to get behind it, and if that happens, then it could become an annual event.

“We don’t have any preconceived ideas on what the ReBuild could be – that’s all up to you.”
