Mrs Shakespeare takes centre stage

Stratford Editorial 9th May, 2022   0

MRS Shakespeare will soon be showing visitors around Stratford.

Tudor World has been running a William Shakespeare walking tour of the town for the past 11 years and the Sheep Street museum has now introduced a new tour based on the bard’s wife Anne Hathaway.

Mrs Shakespeare of course has a story or two about her famous husband, but also talks the role of women in the 16th century, as well as her own personal experiences.

Like the ‘Mr’ Shakespeare tour there will be a mixture of facts and entertaining stories and jokes.

The first ‘Mrs’ Shakespeare will be played by Allie Croker who has recently moved to Stratford from London.

She is no stranger to the bard, having appeared in many Shakespeare productions.

Allie said: ‘I’m so pleased to be able to give Anne a voice on this ground-breaking tour. My ‘husband’ may have said “Frailty, thy name is woman” but in my opinion “she is a woman more worth than any man”!’

The next public public tour of Stratford will be at 2pm on Saturday 28th May.
