More Christmas shoeboxes heading to Romania thanks to couple's on-going efforts

A BIG-hearted couple from Stratford have again been inundated with Christmas shoeboxes for Romania.

This is the tenth year that Malcolm and Anne McCulloch have collected shoeboxes to send to Eastern Europe with the AMEN Trust.

And in total over the decade they have received over 3,000 shoeboxes from individuals, workplaces, schools, Women’s Institutes, Brownies, Scouts, Rotary, Slimming World groups and churches.

Shoebox contents are everyday items but to those Romanian families living in very basic conditions they show someone cares enough to give them the only gift they will receive this Christmas.

The couple have also been collecting blankets, baby clothes, push chairs and Moses baskets this year.

Last year some blankets, along with solar lamps and candles, were taken across the border to Ukraine to help those surviving the winter weather and power cuts.
