MEDAL collectors and researchers from around the world are set to come together in Stratford.

The Orders and Medals Research Society (OMRS) has relocated its annual convention from London and it will be held at Stratford’s Holiday Inn for the first time ever on Sunday (September 25).

People can view exhibitions about fakes and forgeries, the Royal Navy during the First World War, and gallantry awards to the Life Guards from the Crimean War from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

The OMRS is expecting some 300 people from as far away as North America and New Zealand to attend the convention.

Graham Pitchfork, president of the OMRS said: “We are delighted to be coming to Stratford for the first time after holding our convention in London for almost 40 years.

“We decided to make a fresh start in a new location because Stratford is more accessible for the great majority of our members as well as being one of Britain’s most famous visitor attractions.”

Entry is £10.
