Man jailed after setting fire to his bedroom

A MAN who set fire to his bedroom at his home in Bishops Tachbrook and then brandished a baton at police has been jailed.

Corey Patterson, of Burwell Grove, started the fire at the house and then left following an argument with a woman last September 2021.

By the time the fire was discovered it had spread and the fire brigade were called.

Police found the 25-year-old hiding in a nearby garden.

But when police went to arrest Patterson he brandished a baton at them.

He pleaded guilty to arson and possessing an offensive weapon at Warwick Crown Court. He was sentenced to two years in prison.

Det Sgt Chris Finch said: “Corey Patterson’s reckless behaviour endangered the lives of the other person in the property, neighbours and firefighters.

“He deliberately started this fire and was then aggressive to officers as they attempted to detain him. He is clearly a dangerous man who belongs behind bars.”
