M40 crash gridlock

A FOUR car smash on the M40 caused gridlock on roads around Leamington on Wednesday morning (November 26).

The crash, between the Leamington and Gaydon junctions, happened around 7am and left three people injured.

The southbound carriageway was completely closed until 11am, when one lane was opened up while emergency services continued work to clear the motorway.

A woman in her 20s had to be cut free from her car. She was assessed by medics for neck, back and chest injuries




She was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment. Her injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Two other drivers, both men in their 30s, were taken to Warwick Hospital as a precaution.


Two other men were treated for minor injuries at the scene.
