Lottery grant to fund new village hall in Honeybourne

Stratford Editorial 8th Dec, 2017   0

HONEYBOURNE will soon have a new village hall after securing a £400,000 lottery grant.

Developer Taylor Wimpey has donated land for the development and the grant, from the Reaching Communities Fund of the Big Lottery will allow work on the £750,000 hall to get underway in the new year. The reminder of the funding will come mainly from the sale of the existing village hall site for the building of two new homes and donations from the private sector.

Honeybourne Village Hall committee chairman Richard Kendrick said: The new Community Centre will enable us to deliver more choice for Honeybourne and the surrounding areas, and we are sure will become a central hub for local information and advice.

“The new build will start in the new year and we will be giving regular updates on our website. We would also welcome new committee members to help us move this exciting project forward, whilst at the same time making a useful contribution to the village.

“The centre will have meeting rooms, a central kitchen and large main room for the new cinema and private functions.

“We now have bookings nearly every day at our existing hall with activities ranging from Yoga, Slimmer’s world, Pilates, stretch classes for mature people, short mat bowls, cubs, WI, etc.”

Mr Kendrick thanked all those who had supported the project so far.
