Literary adventures set to inspire children in Stratford this Christmas

BEAR hunts and fairytale adventures are set to entertain youngsters in Stratford this Christmas.

Books for Kids is a new scheme launched by Stratford Town Trust, which has arranged for hundreds of books gifted to children from Father Christmas himself.

The grant-giving charity – which awards millions each year to support the Stratford community – has purchased the books in the run up to Christmas.

The first of these – some 250 – were wrapped and handed to Santa, ready to be given out at the Christmas Lights Switch-on.

More books will be distributed to youngsters before Christmas, with plans to expand the programme in the new year by working with Stratford schools.

Trust chief executive Justin Williams said: “It’s a small gift from the Town Trust – but one we hope will have a real impact.

“Going on an adventure, sharing a story; books are so important to children and we want to make sure every child in Stratford can have at least one book of their own.

“We look forward to working with our local schools next year to expand this programme further.”
