HRH The Princess Royal was in Stratford to add her voice to talks on helping young carers.

Princess Anne – in her capacity as Royal Patron of the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MND) – joined 70 association visitors at the Holiday Inn for a discussion about how the MND Association could help volunteers work in the most effective way with young people who care for people living with motor neurone disease.

HRH sat with guests at each table discussing factors affecting young carers – about which she has extensive knowledge having set up The Princess Royal Trust for Carers.

She later made a speech thanking volunteers for their commitment to the MND Association.

The event was the tenth HRH has attended for the MND Association, having taken up the role in September 2008.

The MND Association was founded in 1979 by a group of volunteers with experience of living with or caring for, someone with MND.
