Hotel manager lands dream job at Downton Abbey-style mansion

A HOTEL MANAGER from Stratford has landed his dream job at a Downton Abbey-style mansion house.

Daniel Perks, who was born and raised in Stratford, is now leading the team at Soughton Hall Hotel near Northop in Wales.

The 37 year-old’s working life started at his father’s construction firm Bridgetown Builders before he went into the IT industry for a local drinks company.

Fancying a change, he took up a job in the gym at The Glebe Hotel in Barford where his education in weddings began when he helped them out on the bar at weekends.

He was promoted to the role of duty manager and his hotel, restaurant and leisure career began, which has since seen him serve Sunday lunch to footballer Michael Owen and welcome celebrity guests such as snooker player Steve Davis and former X Factor contestants Jedward.

Daniel said: “Soughton Hall has a fascinating history which I am keen to learn so much more about. Its size means I can manage it on a very hands on and personal level, and it is just such a spectacular and majestic place to live and work.

“I consider myself very fortunate to have got the role and I want to bring all my past experience and skills here to ensure more people get to know about what a special hotel and wedding venue this is.”
