Coronavirus: Hospital introduces visiting restrictions - but people still stealing from health service

VISITING restrictions have been introduced at south Warwickshire hospitals – but people are still stealing from the local health service.

South Warwickshire Foundation Trust (SWFT) has introduced new restrictions during the coronavirus outbreak.

Warwick, Stratford, Leamington and Shipston hospitals will now only allow one visitor per bed or with patient hospital attendance.

Visiting times will only be during mealtimes at midday to 1.30pm and 5pm to 6.30pm.

But trust chief executive Glen Burley has revealed while NHS staff are working hard to cope with the outbreak, people were still taking items from hospitals.

It comes after The Observer revealed hand sanitiser had been ripped from the wall at Warwick Hospital.

Mr Burley said: “We are currently seeing the best and the worst in people. Staff here are caring, upping skills, being flexible, never moaning. In the same town people are stealing from the NHS, scrambling to strip the shelves of food. There are currently no supply chain issues, just selfishness.”
