REPAIR work is underway at Stratford’s historic Guild Chapel – but it will remain open to the public throughout.
The works are being funded by Stratford Town Trust, custodian of the chapel.
They include routine maintenance and repairs – to replace damaged floor tiles and broken window panels – as well as more complex work on the chapel roof to make it watertight and protect the historic building and its new organ, installed last year.
The stonework outside has also been cleaned
The work is being carried out by Midland Conservation Ltd and should be completed within six weeks.
The chapel will remain open throughout. Visitors are welcome between 10.30am and 4.30pm daily.
The chapel is also used by King Edward VI School on a regular basis for assemblies – and by other schools and groups for concerts, worship and events.
