Help Alcester woman to land the 'world's best summer job'

AN ALCESTER woman is in the running for the ‘World’s Best Summer Job’ – getting paid £15,000 to travel the country camping and glamping, writes Aimee Lempriere.

Grace Kelly, aged 31, is one of the eight finalists in Hipcamp’s inaugural contest.

The organisation challenged the camping enthusiasts to adventure across the UK this August, blogging and vlogging about the natural beauty of Hipcamp’s stays.

Grace is no stranger to camping and – if she is not under canvas – people are likely to see her scaling cliffs, kayaking across the ocean or wild swimming – ‘the great outdoors just runs through her veins’.

Grace said: “There are so many incredible places to explore in the UK and some amazing experiences – if I win, I’d love to really be able to shine a spotlight on what the UK has the offer.

“I’ll never forget the first time I unzipped my tent on the morning after my first solo wild camp on Y Garn in Snowdonia.

“It was such a great sense of achievement to have done that alone, and I also got to witness the most incredible sunrise from my tent on a mountain summit – a view not many get to experience.”

Throughout this experience, Grace will need to try get as many votes as she can before Tuesday, July 19, to help claim her top prize.

One week later the winners will be announced based on a combination of the total number of eligible votes, an interview with Highcamp staff, overall technical ability, and creative experience.

Jonathan Knight, UK Country Manager at Hipcamp, said: “We were so impressed by the quality of the entries from our UK campers, it’s clear  camping remains a popular pastime for every generation, and the thirst to get into the great outdoors is more pertinent than ever.”
