Guide dogs named in memory of dedicated volunteer

A PAW-SOME fund-raising effort has led to the naming of two new guide dogs in memory of a dedicated volunteer.

A charity dog walk and other activities organised by law firm Lodders saw more than £4,500 raised to name a puppy ‘Badger’ in memory of Sally Badger, a popular member of the Shakespeare’s Puppies Appeal team which supports Guide Dogs by raising money in Stratford district.

Sally, who died earlier this year aged just 38, was partially sighted and had two of the dogs during her lifetime, and the money raised by Lodders was donated in her honour.

It follows £5,000 which was raised by her family and the Shakespeare’s Puppies fund-raising team, which enabled them to name another dog ‘Sally’.

Lodders Charitable Foundation chairman David Lodder said: “It is a great pleasure to be able to support such a worthwhile cause that benefits many people in the area.

“We are especially pleased to honour Sally Badger by naming a puppy in her memory, and we thank everyone who attended our fund-raising dog walk and donated to our cause in order to make this happen.”
