Golfers encouraged to tee off for Stratford Hospital appeal

GOLF enthusiasts are being urged to swing into action for Stratford Hospital’s £1million appeal.

The Welcombe Hotel will be holding a charity golf day from 9.30am on Tuesday April 12.

Featuring a nearest to the pin competition and a host of other challenges, the day will also include a bacon butty on arrival and a two-course sit down meal in the hotel’s dining room afterwards.

All proceeds from the event, which costs £300 for a team of four, will go towards the £1million appeal.

Hospital chiefs are looking to create a new cancer and state-of-the-art eye treatment centre at the existing site on Arden Street by early next year.

The appeal total currently stands at £709,000 and it is hoped the money will help fund everything from specialist chemotherapy chairs to iPads that do not come as standard in the new £22million hospital.
