Getaway car believed to have cloned number plate used in number of thefts

A CAR with a cloned number plate is being used to carry out a series of thefts in Stratford district.

A blue Ford Focus has been seen with a number plate – ending in ‘YJB’ – believed to match a legitimate vehicle somewhere else in the country.

Several males were seen stealing £3,000 worth of tools from a work van in Welford before fleeing in the Ford on Tuesday (April 24).

Two days later, the same vehicle was spotted in Bidford as a man was seen baseball cap and a scarf across his face stealing a mountain bike worth some £4,000.

On the same evening, two men from the car were seen trying the the handle of a parked van.

Police are warning drivers to ensure number plates are secured with anti-theft screws.

Anyone with information should call police on 101.
