A GAS leak on Birmingham Road has lead to traffic problems.

National Grid is working to repair the pipe near Fordham House, but have had to close one lane while work is carried out.

Engineers are unsure of when they will be finished.

A spokeswoman for the company said: “National Grid is carrying out emergency work to repair a gas leak in Birmingham Road.

“To enable engineers to work safely and protect motorists and other road users we have had to close one lane. We are sorry for the delays and disruption to motorists and local residents.

“We are not able to say at this stage when the work will be finished. However, we appreciate this is a very difficult location and every effort is being made to complete the repairs as soon as possible, with staff working extended hours.”
