Future could be bright for electrician

Stratford Editorial 28th Jul, 2018   0

THE FUTURE looks bright for an electrician from Long Marston after he was shortlisted for a national title.

Andy Willcox has seen off more than 3,000 competitors to join nine other tradespeople in the final of ‘Britain’s Top Tradesperson 2018’.

The 40-year-old spark who has been an electrician for 21 years, applied for the competition – held by hardware company Screwfix – after one of his customers suggested he did so.

And after Screwfix representatives paid him a visit, he went straight into the list of talented tradespeople across the UK.

The tradesman will attend the final at the home of English rugby Twickenham today (Friday), and plans to go all out to impress a panel of expert judges in an all-day showdown with the other finalists.

As well as claiming the coveted title, the winner will also be driving home in a brand new Mitsubishi pick-up truck worth £33,000.

Andy said: “I’m delighted to be in the national final. To be recognised for the hard work that I put in means so much and I’m looking forward to meeting the judges and the other finalists too.

“I’m extremely enthusiastic about my work and always give 100 per cent.

“I can’t wait to show the judges what I’m made of, and to make my family and customers proud.”
