Firefighters help youngster with burning passion

FIREFIGHTERS in Warwickshire recently helped a youngster with a burning passion.

Andrew Impey from Portsmouth is attempting to fulfill his #oneladschallenge to visit as many fire stations as he can.

And firefighters in Warwickshire were only too happy to help the 11 year-old, who lives with autism, to tick a few more off his list when he made a return visit to the county.

Andrew’s was given a tour which included stop offs at fire stations in Stratford, Alcester and Gaydon.

The youngster was welcomed by Stratford station commander Keith Gilkes, before he and his mum Kirstine, were joined by tour guide, firefighter Rachel Streeting, from the Fire Fighters Charity.

Andrew said: “I really enjoyed my return trip to Warwickshire, it was great to be able to cross off more fire stations from my list. I hope to return soon to see the remaining stations.”

Struggling to meet people, a visit to his local fire station inspired Andrew to set himself a goal to teach himself to read and write, and ultimately join the ranks of social media.
