STAFF at a Stratford opticians have been channeling their inner elves.

The team at Specsavers has been busy collecting gifts to support for international relief charity Operation Christmas Child.

Staff boxed and wrapped them up for the charity, which then sent them to children in need around the world.

Store director Paul Griffiths said: “We’re delighted to be able to support Operation Christmas Child and to give something back ahead of Christmas.

“The staff all rallied round to donate and collect enough gifts to fill 14 shoeboxes, which will hopefully bring 14 smiles to children around the world.”

Established in 1970, Samaritan’s Purse is an international relief and development organisation that provides aid to disadvantaged communities in Africa, Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

Operation Christmas Child is one of the organisation’s biggest schemes, with thousands of churches, schools and businesses across the country donating and collecting shoeboxes to be sent overseas.
