Efficiency report finds Warwickshire Police working well

DESPITE heavy cutbacks Warwickshire Police continue to impress.

A report into efficiency showed the force is reducing crime and keeping people safe.

The findings from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) – which independently assess police forces – found Warwickshire Police has a ‘comprehensive understanding of its current and likely future demand’.

It comes despite cutbacks of around 20 per cent over the last five years.

Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Seccombe has spoken about the findings.

He said: “I am pleased this report confirms Warwickshire Police is well placed to meet future demand and the challenges that will come with that demand.

“It is reassuring that the assessment is very much in line with our own view of where we are.

“I am confident the investment I have committed over the term of office to modernise technology will play a significant part in delivering the force vision and managing future demand.”

Police are looking to save some £58 million over the next ten years through an alliance with West Mercia Police. They are also looking upgrades to IT systems, enabling officers to use body cameras and improve CCTV evidence.

The report also highlighted the force’s focus on improving the service for victims and has made short-term adjustments to improve efficiency.

Mr Seccombe added: “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of all of our officers and police staff that Warwickshire Police is good in how efficient it is at keeping people safe and reducing crime.”
