TIME is running out to register to vote in the upcoming general, district, town and parish elections on May 7.
Stratford District Council is urging people to register as soon as possible ahead of next Monday’s deadline (Apr 20).
Darren Whitney, Democratic Services Manager said: “We don’t want anyone in Stratford District to miss out on having their say on polling day.
“It is their democratic right so we urge anyone not registered to vote to go online and get registered – it should only take around five minutes.”
Following an electoral review by The Local Government Boundary Commission for England, the number of seats on the district council is set to be slashed from 53 to just 36.
Under the new boundaries, each ward will now be represented by a single member – where previously in some cases there were two or three – with elections being held every four years.
And the council is urging those who are unsure whether they are on the electoral register at their current address to call the elections office on 01789 260208.
