Developers eyeing up former golf course in Henley again

PLANS to develop a disused golf club in Henley have been submitted to Stratford District Council once again.

Cemetery Development Services Ltd – which last year controversially applied to develop a cemetery on the side of Liveridge Hill – now has plans to develop over 800 metres of forestry roads, parking and loading areas, and an equipment shed on the same site.

The company initially applied for permission to build a woodland burial ground at the end of 2014 before withdrawing the scheme. A revised application was submitted to the council in 2015 but again the plans were withdrawn.

Residents of Henley and nearby Beaudesert have hit back at the latest plans saying that although the works are set to be for forestry use any trees planted would not be ready for first thinning for 15 years and even then the amount of timber coming out would be minimal.

The application will be considered by Stratford District Council in the new year.  People can comment on the plans here until December 16.
