Criminals using NHS Covid Pass to scam money out of Warwickshire residents

FRAUDSTERS are using the NHS Covid Pass to scam money out of Warwickshire residents, Warwickshire Trading Standards (WTS) has warned.

Criminals are using the pass to convince people to hand over money, financial details and personal information by sending imitation text messages, emails and making phone calls pretending to be from the NHS, and offering fake vaccine certificates for sale online and through social media.

WTS is advising residents who are contacted about their NHS Covid Pass to be alert to links and attachments in unexpected text messages or emails, not to respond to requests for money, passwords or financial details, and to visit – the official NHS Covid Pass website.

The service advises residents to hang up on suspected fraudulent calls, forward suspicious emails to, and forward suspicious text messages to 7726.

Report suspected fraud to Action Fraud at or by calling 0300 123 2040.

The NHS Covid Pass is available to demonstrate a person’s Covid-19 status either in a digital or paper format via the NHS App, the NHS website or by calling 119.
