Council launches dementia information leaflet - The Stratford Observer

Council launches dementia information leaflet

Stratford Editorial 11th May, 2016 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

A ONE-STOP leaflet detailing all the district’s services for people with dementia has been created.

To mark National Dementia Awareness Week, Stratford District Council is promoting the range of support available for people living with the condition.

The leaflet lists all the dementia cafés, day care and other activity groups available across the district.

It also gives information on support groups available for carers.

Many organisations, which support people with dementia or their carers, have their own leaflet but this is the first time all the services in the district have been detailed in one place.

The leaflet has been distributed to GP surgeries so anyone receiving a diagnosis can and find out what activities and support mechanisms are available.

Marie Darwen, of Stratford District Council, said: “Dementia can be an extremely demanding and worrying condition – for both those experiencing its symptoms and those who are caring for loved ones.

“By helping raise awareness of the services available, we hope we can ensure those who are living with dementia are provided with the support and advice they need to help make life a little easier, both now and in the future.”

All the information in the leaflet was correct at the time of printing. It will be updated as and when new or updated information becomes available.
