Climate conscious district households set for energy efficiency boost

Stratford Editorial 3rd Feb, 2020   0

CLIMATE conscious householders in Stratford may not need permission to install energy efficiency measures.

Stratford District Council is set to consider more recommendations put forward by its ‘task and finish group’ to achieve its aims to become carbon-neutral in the district by 2030.

One of the new recommendations to be considered could mean businesses and residents could have automatic consent to install measures like solar panels on buildings.

The Conservative-controlled council will also discuss lobbying central government to ‘put carbon reduction at the heart of consultation responses’ and ‘specific transport proposals’, including improved bus services and staff travel. A list of ‘transport wants’ is expected in spring.

Further discussions over earlier recommendations including introducing a climate change panel, tree planting and improving insulation in homes, will take place at a meeting of the ruling cabinet next Monday (February 10).
