Centenary Poppy Campaign keeps on growing

THE CENTENARY Poppy Campaign was given a boost by shoppers at Asda Living in Stratford.

Members of the Royal British Legion Stratford branch were selling poppy seed packets – as part of a project to commemorate the centenary of the outbreak of the Great War – at the Maybird store over the Easter weekend.

Some 200 packets of seeds were sold raising a further £75.

And those without a garden should not feel excluded.

“We are currently in talks with Sutton Seeds of Devon and Asda, looking into the possibility of growing the poppies in pots”, said Coun Chris Wall who is organising the campaign locally.

He also thanked Bill Moore, of Bill Moore’s Windows and Doors, who is sponsoring the project.

Seed packets are available from Coun Wall by calling 01789 508396.
