SOUTH Warwickshire Foundation Trust’s subsidiary company has reinvested some £60,000 into services supporting local health and wellbeing.
The trust says SWFT Clinical Services Ltd is a social enterprise which sees profits pumped back into the community.
This year £35,000 has been given to South Warwickshire Citizens Advice Bureau to support a project enabling it to receive referrals from local NHS services. This will enable it to help patients access advice and information about issues such as debt management, hardship grants, or housing support. Referrals can come from the likes of district nurses, primary care and community services.
Some £15,000 was also invested in the Forest of Hearts Charity to create a sustainable kitchen garden at Stratford Hospital. The trust hopes the garden will provide volunteering opportunities while offering a tranquil outdoor space for patients, their families and for staff to enjoy and will deliver a sustainable crop of fruit, vegetables and herbs and help promote healthy eating at the hospital.
And £10,000 was donated to Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Biker Service to transport chemotherapy drugs to patients during the pandemic.
The trust says the volunteer-led free service saves the NHS valuable staff time and transport costs and delivers the drugs where and when they are needed.
South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Glen Burley said: “Improving the wellbeing of our communities is key to helping people stay well by accessing the information, services and opportunities that sustain good health and allowing people to lead fulfilling lives.
