A DRIVER has had a lucky escape after their car ended up in the river in Stratford.
Police and firefighters both attended the scene this afternoon (Tuesday) following reports that a car had “left” the car park area by Stratford Boat Club and entered the water.
The person in the car managed to get out and was spotted by an eyewitness on top of the roof of the vehicle.
The car has since become completely submerged in the water and a buoy, attached to the vehicle before it sank, is the only indicator the car is there.
The Observer was first alerted to the incident by The Avon Navigation Trust who put out an alert to all river users which ran: ““A car has entered the navigation adjacent to Stratford Boat Club. The car has buoys marking the position. Please proceed with care keeping well clear of the buoys.”
