Campaign launched to slash number of motorcycle fatalities

Stratford Editorial 2nd Sep, 2017   0

A CAMPAIGN has been launched to cut the number of motorcyclists killed or injured on the region’s roads.

Over 500 people have been killed or seriously injured following motorbike accidents in the region in the past three years.

And the Safer Roads Partnership has launched the campaign in a bid to reduce this number.

A course entitled ‘Take Control’ has been made available to riders of mopeds, scooters and motorbikes across Warwickshire to brush up their skills, gain confidence, and prepare for their test. The full-day course is suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike and costs £50.

Ch Sup Steve Cullen said: “Both Warwickshire and West Mercia are popular with bikers and many riders are attracted to the area, particularly at weekends and when the weather is good.

“However, the unfortunate reality is that motorcyclists continue to be over-represented in road traffic collisions. Through education and enforcement, we’re aiming to make motorcyclists and other road users more aware of the risks that are present when they are out on the roads and to help us reduce the amount of collisions that take place.”
