Busy summer for Stratford Boat Club

Stratford Editorial 19th Aug, 2014 Updated: 28th Oct, 2016   0

IT HAS been a busy summer on the water for Stratford Boat Club.

Having organised two of their own regattas, they also took part in competitions at Oxford City and Warwick.

And following the success of the junior summer rowing camps, the club is preparing for its adult Explore Rowing courses in September.

Held inside and on the water, the ten-session courses run on Monday and Wednesday mornings and Monday evenings and Saturday afternoons – giving adults a taste of rowing and the basic techniques.

Stratford Boat Club’s head coach Andrew Roe said: “We have introduced over fifty young people to rowing over the last four weeks through our junior summer camps.

“We have been extremely lucky with the weather and by the end of the course, each participant had learnt the basics of sculling techniques.”

Will Bird, the club’s junior co-ordinator, added: “It’s very pleasing to see so many young people getting serious about sport and exercise.”
