Warwickshire firefighters to serve up cuppa and cake for cancer

FIREFIGHTERS in Warwickshire are brewing up for cancer.

Leamington fire station in Warwick Street is holding a coffee morning event on Friday September 27 from 10am to 1pm to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The event is part of the charity’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and will be one of many taking place across the UK.

As well as enjoying a cuppa and cake, firefighters will also be giving out advice and useful tips on fire prevention and encouraging people to consider becoming an on-call firefighter.

Warwickshire County Council fire spokesman Coun Andy Crump said: “Everyone at Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service is delighted to be involved in Macmillan’s fantastic initiative.

We hope that you can come along with your families for coffee and cake and take the chance to meet our firefighters and hear from them about what it’s like to work in the fire and rescue service and of course enjoy some amazing cakes.

“If you could come along and help our crews to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan, that would be great. We would really like to help them to achieve their record fundraising goal.”
